Troubleshooting

Bluelink™ is a telematics system available in select Hyundai models, allowing you to connect to your vehicle. It works through a modem and SIM embedded in the car, connecting it to a mobile network.

You can connect Bluelink to your Hyundai in two ways:

  1. Via the vehicle’s infotainment system.

  2. By downloading the Bluelink App, creating an account, and linking it to your car.

Bluelink™ offers features like live traffic, weather, and remote services when linked to your smartphone. Available services depend on your vehicle’s model and specifications. New features and updates are regularly added.

To connect Bluelink to your Hyundai, you can activate it through the infotainment system or by using the Bluelink app. For full instructions on how to connect Bluelink, follow the steps outlined in this FAQ.

To activate via the infotainment system:

  1. Turn on your vehicle.

  2. Go to ‘Settings’ on your home screen and select ‘Bluelink’.

  3. Choose ‘Activate Bluelink’, agree to the terms and privacy notice.

  4. Once you see ‘Bluelink successfully activated’, you’re ready to go!

To activate via the Bluelink App:

  1. Follow the in-vehicle activation steps.

  2. Download “Hyundai Bluelink Australia” from the Google Play Store for Bluelink on Android or Apple App Store for Bluelink on iPhone.

  3. Create a Bluelink account and link it to your vehicle by scanning the VIN QR code and entering a verification code. Once completed, you can access the full range of Bluelink services.

While we strive for compatibility across all devices, we recommend testing your phone with Bluelink, as Hyundai cannot guarantee full compatibility due to the wide variety of mobile devices.
Bluelink connects via the Optus network. If the network isn’t available in your area, Bluelink services won’t function until the connection is restored.
We’ll only send you marketing communications if you give us explicit consent.
Bluelink is available in select Hyundai models. To check if your car has Bluelink, you can refer to your vehicle manual, look for the Bluelink option in your vehicle’s infotainment system, or look for the Bluelink sticker on the drivers window.

Every Bluelink-equipped vehicle has its own data allowance, provided by Singtel. Hyundai's partnership with Singtel covers any extra data usage during the 5-year complimentary period, so you won’t be charged if you go over your allowance.

Please note, mobile data used by your smartphone is at your own cost. Check with your service provider for details on your data allowance and charges.

Hyundai partners with Singtel (Optus) to provide SIM cards and data for Bluelink. This means Bluelink only works in areas covered by the Optus network, and you can’t choose another network provider.

Bluelink relies on mobile and GPS networks, so coverage can be affected by your location, especially in remote areas or enclosed spaces. Some features may not work if there are issues with these networks or your phone’s location services.

Bluelink is available only in areas covered by the Optus network. In areas with limited or no coverage, Bluelink features may not function. Bluelink services also rely on your car’s electrical system, so the vehicle needs adequate battery power and network access to operate.

If you’re selling your vehicle, it’s important to deactivate Bluelink services. Here’s how:

  1. Reset to factory settings: Go to ‘Bluelink’ in your vehicle’s infotainment system settings, select ‘Deactivate Bluelink’, and reset to factory settings.

  2. Terminate your Bluelink subscription: If your smartphone is connected to the vehicle, open the Bluelink App, go to ‘My Account’, and select ‘Terminate My Account’.

For more information, you can refer to the Bluelink manual or the new owner can also contact Hyundai at 1800 186 306 with any questions.

When selling your vehicle, inform the new owner about the following:

  • The vehicle is equipped with a Bluelink device (connected modem).

  • The remaining term of the Complimentary Period, if applicable.

If the vehicle is still linked to the previous owner’s Bluelink account, follow these steps to deactivate it:

  1. Go to ‘Settings’ in the infotainment system, then ‘Bluelink’.

  2. Select ‘Deactivate Bluelink’ to reset the system to factory settings.

For more details, refer to the Bluelink User Manual or call us on 1800 186 306 for assistance. Once deactivated, follow the steps in FAQ 8 to activate your own account.

Yes, the previous owner can continue tracking the vehicle unless you reset the Bluelink system. To prevent this, go to ‘Settings’, then ‘Bluelink’ in the infotainment system and select ‘Deactivate Bluelink’ to reset it to factory settings.

For further guidance, refer to the Bluelink User Manual or call 1800 186 306 for support in setting up your Bluelink services.

Yes, if you’ve sold your Hyundai but forgot to disconnect Bluelink, you can still terminate your subscription via the Bluelink App. Go to ‘My Account’ and select ‘Terminate My Account’.

For more information, refer to the Bluelink User Manual or call us at 1800 186 306 for assistance.

It’s the current owner’s responsibility to deactivate their Bluelink account before selling the vehicle. Here’s how:

  1. Reset Bluelink to factory settings via the infotainment system under ‘Settings’ > ‘Bluelink’.

  2. If your smartphone is connected, cancel your Bluelink subscription in the Bluelink App under ‘My Account’ by selecting ‘Terminate My Account’.

For more info, refer to the Bluelink User Manual or the new owner can contact Hyundai at 1800 186 306 for help.

Make sure the new owner knows the vehicle has a Bluelink device and direct them to the Bluelink User Manual. Also, you should inform them of the remaining term of the Complimentary Period (if any).

If your vehicle is stolen, first file a police report. Let the police know that your vehicle has tracking capabilities. Only the police can request vehicle tracking and immobilisation from Hyundai's call centre. Keep in mind, your vehicle needs a functioning electrical system and network coverage for Bluelink to work.

(These services are not available if Bluelink is disabled or terminated.)

To deactivate Bluelink:

  1. Go to ‘Bluelink’ in your infotainment system settings and select ‘Deactivate Bluelink’. This will reset the system to factory settings.

  2. If your smartphone is linked, cancel your Bluelink subscription via the Bluelink App under ‘My Account’ and select ‘Terminate My Account’.

You can find more details in the Bluelink User Manual or call us at 1800 186 306 for assistance. After deactivation, you’ll receive a confirmation SMS.

If Bluelink isn’t activating, ensure that your vehicle is in an area with network coverage and that the vehicle’s electrical system is functioning.

If you’re still having issues with Bluelink, you can check the Bluelink manual, call us at 1800 186 306, or email us at bluelinksupport@hyundai.com.au for assistance.

In a severe collision or if an airbag deploys, Bluelink automatically notifies Hyundai’s emergency assistance centre. They’ll contact you through your car’s speaker. If you don’t respond, it will be treated as an emergency.

The vehicle needs a functioning electrical system, battery, and network coverage for Bluelink to work. Hyundai is not responsible for emergency service fees or provider response.

(Not available if Bluelink is deactivated or 4G services are disabled/unavailable.)

Yes, Hyundai will inform Bluelink users about any important changes to the Privacy Policy or Terms of Service before they take effect.

Your VIN/Chassis number is a unique 17-digit identifier for your vehicle. You can find it:

  1. On the Vehicle Registration Certificate.

  2. On the windshield (passenger side).

  3. Under the driver’s seat carpet in the footwell.

Yes, you can turn off certain types of notifications in your settings or directly when you receive a pop-up notification.

Press the SOS button in a genuine emergency to speak to Hyundai’s third-party emergency call centre. They’ll assess the situation and send emergency services if needed.

Your vehicle must have a working electrical system and network access for this service to function. Hyundai is not responsible for emergency service fees or response times.

(Not available if Bluelink services are disabled or terminated.)
