Who We Are


Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) is country’s leading automobile manufacturer. In line with HMC’s global brand vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’ we adopt sustainable and green manufacturing operations, offering mobility solutions with industry leading technology.

HMIL operates with a network of 1,366 sales points and 1,550 service points across India. Our model line-up consists of car models across different customer segments, including Grand i10 NIOS, i20, i20 N Line, AURA, EXTER, VENUE, VENUE N Line, VERNA, CRETA, CRETA N Line, CRETA Electric, ALCAZAR, TUCSON and the all-electric SUV IONIQ 5. HMIL’s manufacturing plant near Chennai, is optimised to manufacture our full range of vehicle models. HMIL also forms a critical part of HMC’s global export hub with exports spanning across Africa, the Middle East, and other countries including Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka.

Mr. Tarun Garg, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), is the first Indian to lead the company since its inception in 1996.

With more than three decades of distinguished experience in the automotive sector, Mr. Garg possesses profound expertise in managing complex market dynamics.
Mr. Garg’s visionary leadership and strategic acumen have guided Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) towards sustainable, long-term growth, further strengthening its stature as one of the leading automotive brands in the industry. His steadfast commitment to innovation, customer-centric excellence and profitability has driven HMIL’s rise in the rapidly expanding SUV segment, while reinforcing its identity as a proud homegrown brand serving India with trust, pride and passion.

Under his stewardship, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) achieved its highest-ever sales for three consecutive years, delivered record profits and achieved industry-leading EBITDA margins. He also played a pivotal role as the Chief Orchestrator of HMIL’s landmark Initial Public Offering (IPO), which marked the largest public offering in the history of the Indian equity markets.

Mr. Garg is widely recognized for his humility and purpose-driven leadership, rooted in a deep commitment to enhance lives of the communities beyond business. His inclusive vision, embodying Hyundai Motor Group’s global philosophy of Progress for Humanity, inspired the launch of Samarth by Hyundai, a pioneering initiative that fosters awareness and accessibility for persons with disabilities in India.


Further, Mr. Garg is a firm believer of People First leadership, underscoring empathy, collaboration and empowerment as the cornerstones of organizational success. He has cultivated a culture where individuals at every level feel valued, respected and motivated to contribute their best. Mr. Garg has earned several top industry honors for his leadership and long-term contribution to India's automotive sector like ACKO Drive's "Person of the Year" 2026, Jagran HiTech's "Auto Personality of the Year" and Business Leader - Automotive Sector" at the NDTV Auto Awards in 2025

In his current role as MD and CEO, Mr. Garg is leading HMIL’s next phase of growth in India, driven by future‑ready mobility, customer‑centric innovation and the vision of “Make in India, Made for the World.” Under his leadership, the company has charted an ambitious roadmap that includes expanding local production capacity to more than 1.1 million units with the commissioning of New Plant in Pune and introducing host of new products. He is also steering a ₹450 billion investment plan and preparing for debut of the Genesis luxury brand in India.

Prior to bringing his expertise to HMIL, Mr. Garg had an illustrious career with Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) where he began as a Management Trainee and rose through the ranks handling key functions across Sales, Strategy, Product, Marketing, Channel, Logistics, Parts & Accessories.

Academically, Mr. Garg is a Mechanical Engineer from the reputed Delhi Technological University (formerly Delhi College of Engineering) and holds an MBA from the premier management institute IIM Lucknow.

What we do

  • Press Shop

    A computer controlled line that converts sheet metal to body panels with high dimensional accuracy and consistency.

  • Body Shop

    It is a hi-tech line that builds full body shells from panels. Automated robotic arms are used for intricate welding operations that ensure superior and consistent build quality

  • Paint Shop

    It is one of the most modern paint shops in the country and uses the environment friendly water based process for superior and lasting exteriors.
    A unique process management system followed here helps us deliver the most extensive colour range, independent of minimum batch requirements, helping customers get their preferred colour anytime.

  • Assembly Shop

    In Assembly Shop all the engine and suspension parts, the electrical parts, the under body parts etc are fitted into the car. The cars go through complete testing in the Assembly Shop.
    The Assembly Shop comprises the Trim Line, the Chassis Line, the Final Line and the OK Line

  • Engine & Transmission Shop

    One of the biggest engine shops in the country, this unit is equipped with the most modern tooling and testing facilities to make a wide range of engines in-house.
