Transition your fleet to Electric Vehicles with confidence.

When and how to transition to Electric Vehicles (EVs) has become a key decision for fleet operators. It’s clear the fleet road ahead is changing – and your business needs are too.

Fuel costs are high, the focus on sustainability is growing and Ultra Low Emissions Zones (ULEZ) and Clean Air Zones (CAZ) are expanding.

All these factors plus the need for efficiency mean it is time for UK small and medium-sized businesses to consider the shift to EVs. And with Hyundai’s range of electric and hybrid models, you know you’ll get advanced technology, cost savings and environmental benefits to meet modern business needs.

How Electric Vehicles (EVs) could help your fleet.

Transitioning to an EV fleet could significantly reduce operating costs. Replacing traditional vehicles with EVs helps fleets benefit from lower fuel and maintenance expenses to make long-term savings more achievable.

        • Set clear goals: Define objectives for switching to EVs – such as cost savings, CO₂ reduction or ESG targets.
        • Review your fleet’s usage profile: This can help identify which vehicle types are best suited to be electric. It’s especially important to do this when nearing contract end.
        • Understand driver needs: Consider journey patterns, vehicle preferences, EV experience and BIK implications.
        • Focus on Total Cost of Ownership: Compare EVs vs. Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles across the period of ownership, rather than just upfront costs, to understand the true value.
        • Match EV vehicles to operational needs: Hyundai offers a diverse EV range for business use, so you can choose which EVs best match which need.

        • Explore funding options: Consider what’s right for you and align finance choices with your budget and TCO considerations.
        • Plan the charging infrastructure: You may want to invest in workplace charging but you can also consider the use of public and home charging networks too.
        • Phase your roll-out: Start small by trialling or piloting EVs within the business, or getting EV replacements based on contract cycles or vehicle usage.
        • Train your team: Provide EV training and support at handover – Hyundai offers experience and induction support to help with this.

Tax incentives, government grants and support.

The UK Government actively encourages EV adoption through various incentives. The Plug-in Car Grant, reduced Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), and attractive Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax rates for employees driving company EVs can provide some financial relief.

Government grants are also available, including the Electric vehicle infrastructure grant for staff and fleets, which is specifically for small  and medium-sized businesses.

This gives you money off the cost of building or installation work when installing multiple charge points, and you can receive  up to 5 grants across 5 different sites.
