Nominate Your School for a Free Residential Trip

Now in its fourth year, The Hyundai Great British School Trip is inviting families across the UK to nominate their child’s school for the chance to win a fully funded residential trip.

Our latest findings highlight growing concern among parents and teachers alike that too many pupils risk missing out on transformative school trips because of financial barriers.

Parents, carers and guardians can use this form to nominate their child’s school and tell us why it deserves to win.

Hyundai’s School Experience Index (SE Index).

Our new research found that school trips can boost children’s wellbeing and engagement by 60%, while increasing attention levels by 80% compared to a typical school day.

Conducted in partnership with behavioural scientist Dr Martha Newson and the University of Greenwich.

The findings informed the creation of Hyundai’s School Experience Index (SE Index), a new measure designed to quantify the positive impact school trips can have on children’s learning and development.

“The SE Index turns what teachers have long observed into quantifiable evidence. It’s designed to support education providers to plan experiences that will have the most positive impact.”

The story so far...

Hyundai’s Great British School Trip is designed to help more children access the educational and cultural benefits of school trips, particularly those from disadvantaged communities where rising costs can put these experiences out of reach. Since launching in 2022, the initiative has supported over 210,000 pupils across the UK, opening up opportunities to learn outside the classroom, build confidence, spark creativity and broaden awareness of future career paths. Through bursary funding, national partnerships and education-led activations, the programme benefits not only young people, but also teachers and schools by making enriching, real-world learning experiences more accessible.

Venue Partners

Our initiative gives children the chance to explore new places, learn about their culture, and discover the wonders of the UK, with the support of over 600 venue partners. Whether it's exploring iconic landmarks, enjoying the beauty of natural landscapes, or diving into the nation’s rich history, every trip offers valuable, real-world learning experiences that go beyond the classroom.

Our Ambassadors

Over the past few years of the programme, Hyundai has been proud to receive support from esteemed ambassadors of our programme, including Tim Campbell MBE, Matthew Burton, and Reggie Yates. “Through this programme, I’ve seen first-hand the difference a school trip can make. I’ve organised trips near and far - from York to New York, from Wigan to Wembley. Whether close to home or overseas, underground or flying away, trips can open up such possibilities, build confidence, spark curiosity and create lasting memories. Access for everyone is crucial - every child deserves the chance to benefit from experiences beyond the classroom, alongside an excellent education in school.” Matthew Burton, Headteacher at Thornhill Community Academy and best known for his role in the hit series Educating Yorkshire.

School trips should provide some of the most exciting and memorable times for our young people. They help to bring their learning to life, encourage greater engagement and inspire their future ambitions. I know that’s what they did for myself and for my children. I firmly believe that they are an essential part of our young people’s development and something that every child should have access to.

As a company that strives to support humanity and to foster an ambitious next generation, we are delighted to have launched this pioneering initiative, which continues to deliver these life experiences as well as supporting teaching staff and parents
