How to: OTA software updates made easy.

If a new software version is available, it can be downloaded directly into the vehicle. The download will start while driving, but installation only starts once the vehicle is parked and switched off. The driver can preview information on the current update to decide whether the installation should be carried out immediately or later. The car cannot be started during the update. When installation is finished you’ll receive a notification on your smartphone.

To keep your Hyundai's performance up-to-date without you having to visit a retailer, we have introduced technology to send and install software updates over the air (via the Internet) to the cars directly – the same way that computers and smartphones get updates. These kind of software updates are called Over-the-Air (OTA) updates. OTA car updates are commonly applied to vehicle system and infotainment software.

IONIQ 6 is the first Hyundai equipped for OTA vehicle software updates.

OTA updates are free of charge during the complimentary period of Bluelink services. In order to keep using the OTA updates after the complimentary period, you need to extend your subscription of Bluelink.

The infotainment system will guide you through which steps are neccessary to conduct a vehicle software update sucessfully.

The vehicle update should be performed according to the instructions on the Infotainment screen. There are certain requirements you may have to fulfil. Once this is done, you can leave the car and do not have to wait until the update installation is finished.
