    Charge faster and go further. 5 minutes is all it takes to fill the all-new NEXO’s hydrogen tanks, which have increased in capacity from 6.33 kilograms to 6.69 kilograms. 

    Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles

    How NEXO's hydrogen fuel cell works.

    When hydrogen stored in NEXO’s tanks enters the fuel cell stack, it is broken down into protons and electrons. The flow of electrons created in the fuel cell provides electricity that drives the electric motor, and the protons react with oxygen molecules from the air, generating heat and water – NEXO’s only emission.

      The advantages of hydrogen.

      Hydrogen is a versatile, clean, and safe energy carrier. Generating zero emissions at point of use, it can be produced from renewable electricity and from carbon-abated fossil fuels (green hydrogen), thereby achieving completely zero-emission pathways.

      Water is NEXO's only tailpipe emission.

      The reaction of air and hydrogen in the fuel cell stack generates electricity and water. This electricity powers NEXO’s electric motor. The water created in the reaction is emitted as vapour – NEXO’s only tailpipe emission.

      NEXO purifies the air while driving.

      Fuel cell electric vehicles, just like battery-powered electric vehicles, do not emit particulates. A special benefit is that they also filter and purify the air as they drive. The NEXO reduces fine dust pollution by that of two diesel cars travelling the same distance.

    Meticulously engineered

    Hydrogen safety.

    Hydrogen is as safe as petrol, if not safer. NEXO's fuel is stored inside incredibly durable carbon fibre tanks, tested to withstand extreme heat and pressure. Since these tanks are highly pressurised and hydrogen is much lighter than air, the fuel would dissipate into the air if a tank was punctured.

    NEXO's reinforced carbon fibre & epoxy hydrogen tanks are 6-times stronger than steel tanks and can hold a pressure of 700 bar. They have successful passed numerous crash and drop-tests.
