ISLA

Software update.

Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA) reads speed limit signs and displays those speed limits in the instrument cluster. It also sounds a warning tone if you exceed the posted speed limit or if the posted speed limit changes. This is a mandatory regulation for all new cars in the EU. However, we have created some updates that will allow you to customise the warning sound volume or mute the ISLA warning sound.

Hyundai has decided to introduce updates to the ISLA feature and its warning sounds, valid from MY24 and MY25 of the line-up onwards.

Volume reduction of warning tones with ISLA.

Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA) interprets the speed limits on the road and displays those speed limits in the instrument cluster. It also sounds a warning tone if you exceed the posted speed limit or if the posted speed limit changes. This is a mandatory regulation for all new cars in the EU. However, we have created some updates that will allow you to customise the warning sound volume or mute the ISLA warning sound.

The first update is available since April 2024. It will deliver a warning sound volume reduction and a new shortcut for the mute button on steering wheel together in the new "Speed Limit Information" feature in the Infotainment menu.
With MY25 we launched with the most advanced version of ISLA, giving drivers the option to select the volume of the audible warning for both the Speed Limit Assist and Speed Limit Warning features at four volume levels, and the option to turn off permanently the warning for posted speed limit changes.

The mute button on the steering wheel 1 can be long pressed to mute the acoustic overspeeding warnings whether driving in Speed Limit Assist or Speed Limit Warning. When activated, an icon with a muted speaker will appear in the cluster close to the TSR icon. The deactivation of the warning can be also selected via the vehicle settings in the infotainment system.

New shortcut: steering wheel mute button.

The mute button on steering wheel now has a mute shortcut for Speed Limit Information. The long press mute button switches from Speed Limit Assist or Speed Limit Warning to the Speed limit Information so you can switch off the acoustic warning. The same result can be obtained also via voice recognition saying the command "Turn On/Off Intelligent Speed Limit Assist".
  2. The acoustic warning tone will be played at a significantly reduced volume.

    Warning volume lowered.

With this ISLA improvement – when Speed Limit Assist or Warning is selected – the acoustic warning tone will be played at a significantly reduced volume as compared to before. This lower sound volume is designed to enhance the driving experience without compromising safety and regulations compliance.
  3. The new Speed Limit Information menu function.

    New speed limit information function.

The new "Speed Limit Information" menu function will allow drivers to keep Traffic Sign Recognition activated but to deactivate acoustic warnings and also the Autoset function in the Smart Cruise Control.
